Biddulph Grange Gardens 3rd of Feburary Visit

Biddulph Grange Gardens 3rd of February visit

Today I visited the Biddulph Grange Gardens today in order to gather reference for my story and its placement in time. The national trust has adopted and preserved a Victorian manor house and the worldly themed gardens. I was primarily interested in the Chinese gardens however they also had gardens themed on the Egyptians, Italians and more.

It was really helpful to see all the different possible buildings and take photos at angles that aren't necessarily provided on an internet google search. The scenery was beautiful and full of extraordinary looking things. Below is some of the hundreds of photos that I took.

Hopefully this will help provide a clearer understanding for myself in terms of scale, design and aesthetics. Nature has always been one of my weakest points in drawing, if i am copying an existing landscape replicating it is not a problem. However, creating my own is another story entirely. The Victorian Manor and Chinese garden was one of the prettiest things I have seen in a long while and has given me a new source of inspiration.

Bone Rank System

I thought, since it is quite prominent in my story, that i would delve into the Korean Silla Dynasty's bone rank system  to get a clear understanding of just what it means. The Bone Rank System, so called because it was based on a person’s hereditary bloodline, was introduced as part of a new law  in 520 CE by king Beophung. However,  GolPum system was technically abolished with the fall of Unified Silla in 935. This is the simplest diagram I could find which explained the kind of standing that people had, and how it corroborated with their title. First of, a Sunggol or 'Sacred Bone' They have to be directly related to royalty on BOTH sides of their parents. Up until King Muyeol, only a Sunggol could ascend to the throne. It was due to the lack of an adequate male Sunggol which made it possible for both Queen Seon Duk and Queen Jindeok to ascend to the throne. They were the last of the Sunggols. Jingol 진골 also known as “True Bone” refers to som...

Logo Concept and Design

LOGO CONCEPT AND DESIGN  -  FANTASY First of all I did my initial research for the names that I liked, as we are a fantasy group we wanted something that reflected this theme. It needed to be suitable for the use on a variety of different combined Fantasy genres (Horror, Romance, Action etc.) The ideas I came up with where: (Side note: All have Publishing House ending it) Zezura - Meaning: It is said to be the name of a mystical city filled with treasure in the middle of the Sahara with a sleeping king and queen. It is guarded by giants. Lemuria - Meaning: A mythical lost country located variously in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Reverie - Meaning: In a state of a peaceful, pleasant and enjoyable daydream. Elysian Fields - Meaning: It is a paradise described in Greek mythology where heroes, Greek God decedents and those deemed worthy go to live a virtuous life after death.  Empyrean - Meaning: Heaven, Happiness, Dreamland, Celestial and...
