Laser cutting

This was a workshop provided by one of our tutors who thought it would be helpful for us to look int possible ideas that are a little less conventional to advertise our product.

Each group was given a square of wood which we could use for whatever we wanted. We decide to stay simple and just have our logo printed on it to get an idea of the depth, speed and timing that it takes to get something cut. Using the logo design I came up with, Jasz made it into a Illustration file which we then took to the department. It was cut swiftly and without much problem. I had previous knowledge on laser cutting from my course in graphic products which we used it frequently. However it was fun to refresh my skills with using it. Below shows the final product and video of it being cut. We ended up going with a 100-500 cutting style.

For my personal product I am interested in getting glasses engraved or something along those lines. However money is slightly sparse at the moment, so it might have to be put of for a future project.

We also did a workshop tutorial on how to set up files for the laser cutter. These where the out comes I made.

These where all different experiments on how to refine existing images to make engravings to how to make solid cut out's for physical objects.
We messed around with all sorts of brushes and methods to achieve what we might want from the laser cutter. We where also educated on the different measurements and line colours needed to let the machine differentiate between scoring, cutting etc.

Bone Rank System

I thought, since it is quite prominent in my story, that i would delve into the Korean Silla Dynasty's bone rank system  to get a clear understanding of just what it means. The Bone Rank System, so called because it was based on a person’s hereditary bloodline, was introduced as part of a new law  in 520 CE by king Beophung. However,  GolPum system was technically abolished with the fall of Unified Silla in 935. This is the simplest diagram I could find which explained the kind of standing that people had, and how it corroborated with their title. First of, a Sunggol or 'Sacred Bone' They have to be directly related to royalty on BOTH sides of their parents. Up until King Muyeol, only a Sunggol could ascend to the throne. It was due to the lack of an adequate male Sunggol which made it possible for both Queen Seon Duk and Queen Jindeok to ascend to the throne. They were the last of the Sunggols. Jingol 진골 also known as “True Bone” refers to som...

Stoke Con Trent Review

Selling at Stoke-on-Trent is now my fourth convention to sell at, and although reasonably quiet still pulled a reasonable profit of £69.50. Surprisingly the thing that was most popular was a 7 postcard set of the BTS members which where £1 each or all 7 for £5. The deal seemed go down a treat, selling out of all prints including the display ones before we packed up. Other than that, two Haikyuu Kageyama A4 digital prints sold, plus several key rings and stickers. On previous experiences I had disagreeable table partners or have tabled on my own. This time around however, I ended up tabling with a friend of mine, whom will be my partner for comic con too. This was our practice set up and experiment on how we work together and i have to admit it went well! Other than her forgetting one or two things at the beginning and having to return home to get them, everything went according to plan. However this is what it was for, this is the time to make mistakes and learn from them. I fe...
