I have been keeping track and writing reports on a word document, and have combined it into one blog post up to the current date. This is because it is for personak record and reflection and not necessarily for readers.
7/2/18
All members attended aside from Vicky who was absent again.
The first topic that was covered was to do with travel to MCM as the cost will rise exponentially towards the time. Not to mention for above ground trains to and from london will likely get booked out. So for convenience sake we thought we would look into it now. Our team member Millie lives in close proximity to London, this would save on the accommodation fee's, averaging around £70 - £120. Travel expenses will hopefully cost around £65 to and from the comic con over the weekend. We plan to sell at the April Stoke Con to help establish our teams and stall displays. This will hopefully aid us in our set up at MCM in the summer.
The next topic was to look at where everyone was at. Giving a detailed report seems to be a trend we have set into our weekly meet ups.
I am up to date with all of my work and the blog, so I will continue to work away at my project.
Millie is still getting up to date with her sketch book after a delay in her schedule due to personal reasons. She has yet to update her blog, but is steadily chipping away at her project.
Jasz's sketch book is getting up to date, however the blog still needs to be worked on, other than that her project is moving along steadily.
Josh is working on his designs and sketchbook work but needs to update the blog. His development of characters and story is going well.
Sarah is getting up to date with her sketchbook work and has been working on her blog.
Due to one member overly posting in their time slot we decided to rearrange the social media posting to days instead.
Monday Josh
Tuesday Vicky
Wednesday Myself
Thursday Mille
Friday Jasz
Saturday Sarah
The meeting was then concluded.
14/02/18
Vicky was again absent, all other members where again present.
First we discussed the presentation. We decided to start of with the group logo and theme, giving a brief introduction and the 'How' to our name and logo design. After this we then proceeded to discuss the number of slides per member, settling on 4-5. We thought this would be enough to show plot summaries, character developments, thumbnails and alike. We arranged for all of us to do their own slides individually before sending it to myself for me to combine in a way which is complementary of individual colours schemes and ideas. I was also assigned to do the first introductory slides.
Current Progress:
Millie needs to finish the colouring of her character sheets, and started drawing concept ideas her comics cover.
Jasz is starting her character turnarounds, aiming to complete them by the end of next week.
Josh has completed his character designs and is starting to look at layouts. He has yet to combine all of his work into a solid sketch book.
I have completed character designs, working on layouts, almost finished the cover design and is up to date with book work.
Sarah still needs to work on her character designs and to start the cover for her comic.
Vicky Absent
Teams for stoke con and MCM
Myself and Millie, Vicky and Jasz, Josh and Sarah.
Meeting was concluded and aim for the week was set out clearly.
21/2/18
Again we discussed transportation. We where unsure for costs and timings. We discussed the possibilities at staying at millies, indeed getting a hotel or staying at one of my families London flats. We has tsill yet to reach a conclusion on what we are going to do.
Stoke con has been paid and secured, teams confirmed and ready for the day.
Millie is working on her cover and starting to look into the layouts for her comic. She is also working on fan art alongside of her comic ready for stoke con.
Jasz is finishing off two remaining characters before she continues onto layouts and updating the blog.
Josh has now started the comic and his blog is pretty much up to date. However he does need to become more present on the social media platforms we have chosen.
I am finishing my layouts and starting my script. Both my blog and sketch book work is up to date.
Sarah is up to date with the blog but is going to start working on her comic this week.
Vicky Absent.
We also discussed the possibility of having a banner backing our table at MCM. We thought it would be a nice touch to help draw attention to our table as well as be a fun project for us all to collectively work on. We though about drawing out a rough base and filling in ourselves in our respective cartoon/ anime/ fanatsy characters, filling the space around the logo. We first, however, need to look into time, cost and location of the university provided printers.
Overall the meeting was productive and simple. No serious issues where raised and everyone ( to our knowledge) is working steadily away towards the deadline.
7/3/18
General meeting check up. We discussed our project progress (Myself over messenger) and compared notes on what was needed to be completed. Everyone is reasonably on target. Again the banner was discussed but not much progress was made. Though it was mentioned that we should start sketching out ideas for bases and poses that our characters would take place on the banner. We discussed social media posting where it was lacking and what areas it could be improved. we decided since the stage we should all be at at this point in our project should be during the inking process, and that this would be a good area to start posting our process on.
Finally we discussed Stoke Con and the possibilities that it could hep fund the comic con expenses such a travel and food. I decided i was going to branch out of the usual fanart of anime characters to the kpop groups too.
Current Process:
Millie: She has decided to make her comic full colour, and is currently getting up to date with her blog. She plans on starting the comic soon.
Jasmine: She is currently working on her thumbnails and has started making her way through her script. She also plans on starting her comic next week.
Josh: He is up to page 7 pencilling and is currently midway through his script. His blog is up to date.
Sarah: She is almost up to date on sketchbook work, and has started pencilling her comic.
Myself: I am up to date, and have started inking the pages I have completed. I do, however, need to update my blog.
Vicky: Through messenger she said she is getting on with both her sketchbook and blog.
14/3/18
Another general meeting with nothing particular to report. A couple of our members are starting to get a little behind, and attendance to lectures hasn't been great but everyone is still steadily moving on with our work. This also seemed evident on social media as we primarily posted sketchbook work and not the actual comic progress. As the deadline is fast approaching we decided we would start looking into the process of how we want our comics made. The book binding methods, possible printers and alike.
Current Progress:
Josh: He has continued to pencil his pages making steady progress. Despite making good progress on his comic, he still needs to update both blog and sketchbook.
Myself: I am up to date on both my sketchbook and blog, whilst I work steadily away at my comic. Though I do need to complete my script.
Jasmine: Today she aims to complete her first page of the comic, and has kept herself up to date on sketchbook work. The script is being steadily constructed along side her pages.
Sarah: She is up to the fourth page of her comic and her blog is coming along well too. She isnt entirely satisfied with the blog but she is steadily chipping away with it.
Vicky: Absent
With stoke con coming up everyone has started working on fanart along side their work, but still managing to juggle all elements of their individual projects and not seeming to get to swamped by it.
21/3/18
The first subject discussed was Stoke Con, most of the members have begun to get concerned if they have enough work to sell and fill the stall. But as Easter is coming up next week, everyone has an opportunity to do more work than usual due to the lack of lectures. Next up was social media, as again we wanted to check that enough progress and variation in posts where being kept up to date in order to create a substantial following.
Current Progress:
Myself: I am line-arted page 3 of my comic and have coloured both page 1 and 2 as testers. Both my blog and sketchbook is up to date and with any luck I will have completed my line arts by the end of Easter.
Josh: Over Easter he has set himself the target of completing both pencilling and line-art of his comic, as well as some chibi stickers. He also wants to look into getting the first draft of the research report completed too.
Sarah: Her Easter target is to complete twelve pages of her comic done. But she mentioned she would primarily be focusing on making fanart ready for Stoke-Con.
Millie: Her desire is to get the entire comic inked as well as catching up on her sketch book work. She also has intentions to draw things ready for Stoke Con, focusing mainly on stickers and the League of Legends fandom.
Jasmine: She is planning to get comic underway whilst also making progress on her research report. She will also be looking at the Halo franchise to make fanart ready for Stoke-Con.
Vicky: Absent
Compared to previous meetings this was a much more casually approached meeting and ended on a positive note. Hopefully all the members will achieve what they have written as their goals over Easter.
