Style of my comic

Style:

What colouring style will I be looking at using for my comic?

Ideally i would love to have a fully coloured comic but still using the manga style, like a cross between a manga ( Greyscale Japanese influenced style) and a Manhwa (Korean coloured webcomic).

Below is the mood boards I created to help me decide. Time wise I  know with my style I will find it hard to do this quantity of pages in the time frame given. So I will likely conform to the normal manga style using screen tones a grey scale cell shading.

I was feeling a little dejected about what colour style I should use when i came across this anime called Katsugeki Touken Ranbu. Aside from loving the characters and story arc's I fell in love with the opening. It had this greyscale block harsh colour scheme which quickly changed to this vibrant beautifully coloured anime. I was thinking of adapting this for my manga, having the majority of the comic in this harsh yet beautiful greyscale style, then the last page(s) to be in colour. This allows for adaption if I run out of time for it to continue running in the grey scale, but also gives me the option to be colour.

Below is the link to the opening if you are interested in seeing it!

Bone Rank System

I thought, since it is quite prominent in my story, that i would delve into the Korean Silla Dynasty's bone rank system  to get a clear understanding of just what it means. The Bone Rank System, so called because it was based on a person’s hereditary bloodline, was introduced as part of a new law  in 520 CE by king Beophung. However,  GolPum system was technically abolished with the fall of Unified Silla in 935. This is the simplest diagram I could find which explained the kind of standing that people had, and how it corroborated with their title. First of, a Sunggol or 'Sacred Bone' They have to be directly related to royalty on BOTH sides of their parents. Up until King Muyeol, only a Sunggol could ascend to the throne. It was due to the lack of an adequate male Sunggol which made it possible for both Queen Seon Duk and Queen Jindeok to ascend to the throne. They were the last of the Sunggols. Jingol 진골 also known as “True Bone” refers to som...

Stoke Con Trent Review

Selling at Stoke-on-Trent is now my fourth convention to sell at, and although reasonably quiet still pulled a reasonable profit of £69.50. Surprisingly the thing that was most popular was a 7 postcard set of the BTS members which where £1 each or all 7 for £5. The deal seemed go down a treat, selling out of all prints including the display ones before we packed up. Other than that, two Haikyuu Kageyama A4 digital prints sold, plus several key rings and stickers. On previous experiences I had disagreeable table partners or have tabled on my own. This time around however, I ended up tabling with a friend of mine, whom will be my partner for comic con too. This was our practice set up and experiment on how we work together and i have to admit it went well! Other than her forgetting one or two things at the beginning and having to return home to get them, everything went according to plan. However this is what it was for, this is the time to make mistakes and learn from them. I fe...

Double Page Research

Double Pages One of my double page spreads will be a continuous image exploding across the page. I have researched some of existing ones to see how they appear within existing books. Some are a continuous image, others have a bar of white down the middle to show where the page divides. This is to stop some of the artwork being lost in the binding. I think this approach is actually quite clever as it does preserve the artwork. I have drawn it on one A3 page, so that it divides up on 2 A4's or A5's. But I was concerned on how it would be seen on the page when contained within a book.
