Thumb Nailing Panels
These are the initial thumbnails I have sketched out in my book along with the footnotes on things I have to change, improve and add. I initially planned the page out via a story summary to get a rough idea of my page count, then expanded in areas I felt it was necessary to add depth and a easy route through the story so that the reader can follow with no trouble.
I have roughly 24 pages planned and should be able to fill it with no problem, I am hoping I have not made it too fast paced however. I have made sure that a couple pages at the end have been left to allow for an explanation and careful wrapping of any loose ends in the story. I chose this specific backstory because it is quite self contained and can be explained without to much too-ing and fro-ing between past and present, as well as not to complicated.
As for rearranging panels I do it quite often. Especially so when its towards an action scene. The story I have planned runs like an animation in my mind so I often find it hard to pinpoint specific images I want to draw, and from what perspectives I want them.
Here is an example I chose to swap around on page 23. Originally I wanted a back shot of Ronin assisting Akue before they walk away. However i realised its almost the same just from a different angle to the panel in front of it.Hence I decide to change it to where she is falling, giving Juno the chance to slip in taht although she is artificially enhanced, what she went through would have killed a human out right, so it is taking her a while to recover.
Some more photo's of randomly selected thumbnail images. I always sketch out the thumbnails first before working on the script as my mind is too muddled with ideas and everything becomes a mess if I dont write it down first. With thumbnails completed and script well under way i will begin sketching out my pages soon.
